In early 2011, Ignacio Izquierdo a.k.a EliaLiut released his first EP entitled “Complacency.” Born in Quito, Ecuador in 1986, he lived abroad for many years due to his father’s career as a diplomat. He is a singer and self-taught guitarist, who has played in various indie rock bands in the past, such as: Turnover (Rome, Italy), Botelia (Quito, Ecuador) and Motozen (Quito, Ecuador).
Elia Liut was the name of the first pilot to fly over the Ecuadorian territory in the 1920s. “I want to keep his name alive. I like to think it’s a way of recycling history,” he states in an interview with EcuadorTimes.
In June of 2011, EliaLiut interpreted a song for a Sony commercial that has been broadcasted throughout Latin America.
He recorded his second album “Live Sessions EP” with a side band in an abandoned house near Ecuador’s capital city.
He presently lives in Seattle and is working on his third EP.

Elia Antonio Liut was born in Fiume Veneto, Italy on March 6th, 1894. He was an Italian aviator, well known for being a pilot pioneer and becoming the first person to fly over the Andes in the Ecuadorian territory. For this he used a Hanriot HD.1, military surplus, which he named “Telégrafo I” in honor of the newspaper that sponsored the flight.
On November 4th, 1920 -Elia Liut achieved his first flight from the coastal city of Guayaquil to the highland city of Cuenca, in which he had to fly at an altitude of 8,300 ft surrounded by 12,000 ft mountains. In the following days, Liut and his pilot partner continued to Quito and as far as Tulcán. In Ecuador it is considered to be the first aerial crossing of the Andes mountains, making him a national hero of Ecuador. He died in Qutio, Ecuador on April 25th, 1952.
